Abi/Abijah 2 Kings 18:2 Daughter of Zechariah
Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
Abi was the wife of the godless king Ahaz, and the mother of the godly king Hezekiah. King Ahaz did many evil things, including burning his children in the fire, 2 Chronicles 28:3.
Abi continued to counteract her husband’s evil ways by continuing to do the will of God. She was a constant witness to her son, Hezekiah, who became a godly king at the age of 25, and reigned for 29 years in Jerusalem.
Abi proved that Proverbs 22:6 was good counsel, given by king Solomon. We know that it isn’t a guarantee, but are confident that it’s our best chance at our children becoming Christians and serving God.
Do you know a mother with a bad husband, who faithfully raised her children in the way they should go? I knew a lady like that and I admire her courage. If you’re a mother like Abi, don’t give up. Stay strong. The outcome will be worth it.
If you don’t know Who Dr. Charles Stanley is, google the name and see how his childhood, with a faithful mother, relates to this. His mother never gave up.
